Film-Making Workshops

Are you tired of all the negativity on social media? Do you want to be able to tell your stories of hope and positivity?

We are on a mission to help you to capture stories from your community, which inspire and motivate others to unite behind a counter narrative to all the hate and division we see and read when we look at our screens.

We have developed the Togetherness Film-Making Workshop to equip you the know-how and the confidence to create a short film, and a platform to share them with the rest of the country.

Why now?

Rising hate crime. St. Georges flags. Shamefully large protests in our capital city, as well as elsewhere. People of Colour and other identities are living in fear.

We urgently need to heal and re-build our communities.

Community-building through film provides an accessible and powerful medium to share lived experiences, foster empathy, and showcase practical solutions emerging from the ground up.

We’d love to chat about whether this training would work for you

What do people say?

  • “This was more than just a workshop - it was a shift in thinking. It’s made us reflect more deeply on how we communicate our messages, manage expectations, and express our vision, achievements, asks, and gratitude, not just through written or animated posts, but with real people and stories, through video.”

    Katherine, Norwich Foodbank

  • “The Togetherness campaign made it so much easier for local groups to start honest conversations about loneliness and helped people feel truly seen. We watched partners reach new audiences and build a real sense of momentum that will last well beyond the campaign. It’s been even more successful than we ever imagined and has had a huge impact on the Norfolk VCSE community. It’s genuinely been a joy to be part of it”

    Caitlin, Community Action Norfolk

  • "It was such a pleasure attending your workshop on filmmaking and togetherness. I genuinely learnt so much—not just about film as a tool, but about how connection and shared storytelling can bring people together in meaningful ways. Your energy, openness, and commitment to community were truly infectious, and it created a space where people felt comfortable to engage, share, and learn from one another"

    Ibrar, Community Member from Burnley

  • "It was absolutely lovely meeting you on Monday! I really enjoyed the workshop – filmmaking and projects like this always work so much more effectively when everyone comes together as a team, sharing skills and resources to create the best possible content. I met some fantastic people and organisations, so thank you for having me. It was a pleasure working with you both, and I’m looking forward to collaborating more in the future."

    Tom, Community Member from Burnley

  • “I really enjoyed celebrating the voluntary community groups that deserve so much recognition for making their communities shine. The films were like windows on small community groups that may only meet weekly, fortnightly or even monthly for a few hours but bring so much warmth to the attendees. I am now offering to support further groups with film making and who knows, enter a local film festival next year with my social media clips that light up our wonderful communities.”

    Sam, Norfolk County Council

  • “Civil Society Together has given me a platform to grow as a videographer and deepen my connection with my community. The workshop itself was an inspiring, welcoming space where creativity thrived, and the Togetherness film campaign is an excellent example of that. One of the highlights for me was meeting people from such diverse backgrounds; it offered a unique perspective into the Norfolk community and sparked new relationships that continue to grow beyond the workshop.”

    Hepsi, community member
